Attention nature and wildlife lovers!

A rare wildlife viewing opportunity has presented itself, due to a new road that has been established in An Thoi’s eastern coast that links a new resort with the main roads (see image).

This was once an area that was inaccessible and heavily forested. With the new road, you can observe some of the local wildlife as well as have a great view of the ocean.

*What you need:

1) Motorbike
2) Patience
3) Be up at 5 am. Get there, watch the sunrise, and just look for animals beside the road.

The beach and the sunset are breathtaking. Water is clear even we can find fish swimming around the shore.

Local people are basically nice and friendly even there’s a language barrier.

One sad thing for me was the service I got at the hotel I was staying. Some staffs chose who to take care of first: in other words, they prioritized the guests depends on their criteria. IMHO staffs at my hotel seemed to focus on Western guests (from US or UK specifically). They mightn’t have known many Asians including Japanese do speak English, have traveled a lot with abundant experiences of staying the high end resorts especially in Southeast Asia, since we’re same Asians and Southeast Asian countries are quite accessible from Tokyo.

The beauty of nature here is stunning among all the Southeast Asian resorts as far as I know but the service at a hotel depends on. You must be careful to choose where to stay.

I love this island very much. All difficulties and uncomfortableness I’ve had were from the lady at the front. (I asked her name but won’t write it here expecting her to change as a hospitality professional of the hotel).

Fusion Resort Phu Quoc still has room for improvement in terms of the hospitality. I’d love to visit the island but I won’t use the same hotel again if they remain as they are. For now, what they offer is not 5 Star service compared to others such as Four seasons hotels and resorts even the price is almost same. I’ve never treated like this before till then—quite surprising.

I’d like to emphasize that it’s no offense to this lovely island and the kindest local people. They are so nice to us even though we have communication difficulties. I really LOVE Phu Quoc and highly recommend especially for those already have been to almost all southeast Asian resorts. I definitely come back again!

The last pic is Sim liquor, made from Phu Quoc Sim fruit. Tastes like sweet brandy or rum. I brought it back to Tokyo and enjoyed it with my friends at a house warming 😊.

Pepper farms, fish sauce factories, Sim liquor winery, fresh seafoods and BEAUTIFUL beaches are the must when you come to Phu Quoc.

Visited Phu Quoc Pepper Farm “Country Side”. The guide showed us around pepper farm in English and let us taste fresh pepper from the pepper vines. I never knew pepper grows like this! The taste of fresh pepper was amazing that’ll be remembered even I come back to Tokyo. There’s also Phu Quoc’s craft beer “Kinh beer” brewery. Smooth dark ale tastes like Guinness. It’s my first time to have dark ale made in southeast Asia. The pretty flowers (of Sim liquor) are also there!

If you’re a Seafood lover, Night Market is just amazing. Even it’s not on weekends, there’re many seafood places open.

I was surprised that one staff at the front(Fusion) didn’t know if it’s open on weekdays and instead tried to make us go to a fancy but quite ordinary restaurant for us living in Tokyo. I’d say the experiences at the night Market is what we really expect. We never get this style restaurants in Tokyo.

You can easily catch a taxi around here to get back to your hotel but make sure to prepare written memo of where you’re staying, or use Siri/Google voice to go back. Almost impossible to communicate with local taxi drivers.
